Corto Maltese is a comic series written by the Italian Hugo Pratt from 1967-1989. Maltese is a roguish sailor who crosses the world in a series of adventures set in the 1910s and 1920s. Pratt won many awards for his art, and the term 'graphic novel' is often attributed to him.
