Alfred Choubrac (1853-1902) was a pioneer of French poster art. In 1884 he was listed with only 9 known active posterists, including the 3 artists whose work made up the world-first poster exhibition, held that year in the Passage Vivienne in Paris: Alfred and Leon Choubrac and Jules Cheret. The cabaret artist Armand Ary performed for Folie Bergere at the turn of the century, a very popular singer and entertainer. In every show she wore the long, black gloves depicted in our poster.

This poster is linen backed.

The Galerie only deals in original vintage posters. As such, each poster is unique and may show signs of age. We think this is part of their authenticity and beauty! However, we are more than happy to provide a condition report.
