James Northfield (1887 - 1973) was one of Australia's most successful and well known commercial artists between 1920 and 1950. His work for the Victorian Government Railways and the Australian National Travel Association played an essential role in both creating symbols of national identity and selling Australia to the rest of the world.

This poster depicts the Table Cape Lighthouse and farming country beyond on the North West Coast of Tasmania.
