A playful image by the master posterist, Leonetto Cappiello, we see the children rising to meet the sweet IDC biscuits that are raining down upon them.
Cappiello had long established himself as a leading graphic artist by the time of this creation, his style of message and character without all the flowery whistles and bells of earlier eras shown in full glory here.
It’s hard to tell if this is an actual maquette, initial mock-up or whether it was meant to be used on boxes, as there is a painterly feel to it which may also be a sheer gloss painted to protect it from the elements. Either way, it is a very rare piece.
’My name is quality, my reputation is what makes me famous’ could be said for both the artist and the biscuit brand.
The Galerie only deals in original vintage posters. As such, each poster is unique and may show signs of age. We think this is part of their authenticity and beauty! However, we are more than happy to provide a condition report.
