    An original lithograph, plate 15 of the Les Maitres de l’Affiche series.  Printed by Imprimerie Chaix, Paris 1898.

    The American, Penfiled is best known for the decade 1891 - 1901, when he was the director of Harper’s Magazine.

    For five of these years he produced a poster for each month’s issue.  Often his drawings were simple, using very clear lines and a touch of humour.  This design also shows elegance and warmth.

    Highly sought-after, desirable and collectible piece of print and magazine history.

    This Maître de L’Affiche is in exceptional condition, a tiny bit of browning at edges due to age. Lush, saturated colour, sharp print and stamp is raised and visible.
