Michelin XZX

Artist:Fabienne Jurot

Year:1975

Measurements:84 H x65 W

This poster is on linen. Folds throughout. Scuffs along sides.

The Iconic Michelin Man promoting the XZX tyre, back in the day it would’ve been especially suitable for another Icon, the Volkswagen Beetle.  This poster isn’t perfect, with folds and scuff marks but it’s perfect in its depiction of the ever-evolving advertising figure who’d captured hearts since the late 1800’s.  It was in the 1920’s when he was given a less creepy aesthetic and toned down the indulgent (ie. smoking/drinking) image that ‘Bibendum’ made his way into the history books and has been sought for collections of automobile enthusiasts worldwide even to this day.
