The husband and wife team of Clifford and Rosemary Ellis produced a number of posters for London Transport from 1933 - 37. Other clients included Shell, the Empire Marketing Board and the General Post Office. The pair are also well known for the nearly 100 book jackets they produced for the New Naturalist Series published by Collins between 1945 - 82.
One of a pair (the other Travels in Space) this Surrealist influenced piece combines a juxtaposition of images into a wondrous and fanciful design - promoting the use of public transport in a somewhat ambiguous fashion!
